​The MHS Symphonic Band is the second concert band on campus, selected by audition at the end of the previous school year. Students in the Symphonic Band perform high level literature and are often students at MHS who are involved in other activities - which is encouraged at Monterey High School. The Symphonic Band aims for the same performance expectations as the Wind Ensemble, and students in this group are encouraged to audition for the All-Region Bands and participate in UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. Placements in all three concert bands are reevaluated every semester. Students in all three concert bands participate in the marching band, the "Swingin' Beat from 50th Street!"
