Holding itself to high expectations of performance of the very best literature available, the Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band at MHS. This selected group is known for its dedication to performance at the highest level, performing in world class venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City. You will find students in the Wind Ensemble also participate in many other activities at MHS, such as athletics, Academic Decathlon, service organizations, and other Fine Arts. Auditions for the Wind Ensemble take place at the end of the previous school year and placements are reevaluated every semester. Wind Ensemble students are expected to audition for a place in the All-Region Bands and/or participate in UIL Solo/Ensemble contest. Students in all three concert bands participate in the marching band, the "Swingin' Beat from 50th Street!" All grades 9-12 are welcome, and selection is based on dedication in the classroom, reliability as an ensemble performer, and musical ability.
